PRI 2010: BFGoodrich Makes Tires For the Turns and the Straights

Surprisingly enough, this is the first time BFGoodrich has displayed at PRI.  The performance tire company makes tires for all walks of live, including off road, street and race. The tires we showcased at the PRI is their g-Force R1 and g-Force T/A Drag Radial.

Their Drag Radial has been a staple in the racing community since its inception.  This tire is popular in NMRA’s Drag Radial class were 1,500+ horsepower Mustangs run in the high 7-second quarter mile zone.  But don’t think that these tires are only for the track, they are also good high-horsepower street applications too, though the 00 treadwear rating will make the mileage driven on the tires limited.  Popular sizes range from 14-inch to 18-inch diameters.

• Equal Tension Containment (ETEC) System resists centrifugal force to maintain a consistent footprint
• High-speed stability and control, plus more cornering performance for improved overall handling and balance.
• Special radial-carcass construction
• Helps resist centrifugal force to promote the consistency of the footprint, which maintains tread contact area for maximized grip off the line

For those that enjoy taking turns at a high rate of speed, BFG makes their R1 road race tire.  This is a road race and not autocross compound tire.  This means that these tires heat up over time and maintain operating temperatures for longer laps around the track.  Believe it or not, these tires are also approved for road driving with a 40 UTQG treadwear rating, though you probably don’t want to drive them in the rain!  Additionally, they are not directional, so you can swap sides, depending on where the most wear is occurring at local tracks.
