PRI 2014: Derive Powers SCT, Bully Dog, And Race Winning Champions

In an effort to provide innovative products, technologies, and innovations to their customers, SCT and Bully Dog have merged to form Derive Systems. We covered the first of these innovations involving the SCT Livewire and Bully Dog GT products during this year’s SEMA show.

Derive is also making a move to offer tuning in the cloud. What this translates to for tuners and enthusiasts is a more efficient way for SCT to deliver custom tuning files to tuners. The company has traditionally used email as a means to transmit tuning files. The new cloud system will allow SCT to load tunes directly to the cloud, and then tuners will be able to load the tunes directly to SCT WiFi enabled devices. This eliminates the step of loading the tune from the computer to the device, as well as waiting for tunes to show up in email.

Winning Racers

SCT is behind some of the biggest names in the street performance drag racing, including NMRA Outlaw Legend, Mike Murillo, and 2014 NMRA Truck and Lightning champion Nina Gussler.

Murillo was an early adopter of SCT, and has been using the company’s systems for nearly a decade. “We’ve won multiple championships with their support,” says Murillo. “They’ve really evolved the tuning, especially with the Mustangs, over the last few years.”

Nina Gussler, won her first championship in NMRA competition in the Truck and Lightning class. The class, which runs in an Open Comp format, requires precision reactions and judgement on the track, as well as having the right vehicle and equipment. “SCT has been a huge supporter, and their product helped me win a championship.”

Gussler will return to Truck and Lightning competition in 2015, with her eyes set on retaining her champion title, or at the very least finishing in the top 10. Murillo, who’s been known for years of running a colorful Texas Flag based paint scheme, has taken a completely different direction. Planning on some grudge racing, Murillo’s car now features a matte paint scheme. “We’re going grudge racing,” says Murillo. The matte black theme features reflective SCT logos, and it should be interesting to see Lafawnduh make a pass in this form.

With innovation and technologies crossing between platforms, and racers winning championships with their support, SCT and Bully Dog look to be stronger than ever in the coming year.
