PRI 2014: Miller Showcases New and Revamped Welder Lines

IMG_9885Whether you are a hobby racer or a full blown race team, it’s hard to campaign a car without at least some ability to weld. To that end, we stopped by the Miller Welders booth at the 2014 PRI show to see what their product line looked like for the coming year.

The company has been making a steady series of updates to their lineup of already-reliable machines. For example, the Syncrowave 210 welder has been upgraded from a TIG-only machine to a Mig (spool gun capable machine).

IMG_9883Also, the Millermatic 141 and 190 have replaced the 140 and 180 series welders. Both of the new units feature increased outputs with more compact dimensions and lighter weights for improved portability.

For the entry-level or light-duty welder, the 141 and 190 are excellent options. The 141 is capable of welding a maximum thickness of 3/16-inch steel — more than enough for 80 percent of automotive tasks. However, for those that need slightly more capability, the Millermatic 190 can tackle 5/16-inch steel and 1/4-inch aluminum (with an optional spool gun attachment).

Even further up the ladder is the highly respected Millermatic 211. This machine features class-leading 3/8-inch steel capacity and Miller’s unique multi-voltage-plug (MVP) which allows the welder to operate on either 220v or 110v power sources.

Miller had a huge percentage of their product on display at PRI and was even offering instructed test sessions for industry professionals to try their hands at welding on Miller’s latest and greatest equipment.
