Building a powerful engine is something all car guys want to undertake, but not all can. That’s because simply ordering a bunch of parts off of a website or from a catalog doesn’t necessarily a powerful engine make. Parts need to be sourced carefully, to ensure they work in conjunction with the rest of the engine so you get the most power possible.
While we’re no experts ourselves, the gearheads over at Holcomb Motorsports know a thing or two about putting together killer engines. Their latest engine package is the Ford 4.6 liter “Street Killer” short block, which includes everything you need to put together a reliable 1,000 horsepower short block.
For those of you who don’t know, a short block is the entire bottom end of the engine, including the rotating assembly, engine block…and that’s about it. The key to Holcomb’s Street Killer is that the parts were sourced for quality and longevity. That’s why Holcomb uses an 8-bolt forged steel crankshaft with Diamond forged pistons.
Of course none of this is any good without bearings or bolts, but Holcomb has that covered too. The fasteners all come from ARP, while Clevite provides the H-Series bearings. The forged rods come from either Eagle or Manley, and the whole shortblock is professionally blueprinted and balanced.
There are also plenty of options you can add on for extra cost, though the shortblock alone will set you back $3,899. But if you want a sure thing with an 18-month warranty, Holcomb’s Street Killer shortblock might be the performance ticket you’ve been waiting for.
