Today, we wanted to bring you some good ol’ fashioned Pro Stock, Super Stock and just hotter-than-blazes drag racing footage from the closing heydays of the manufacturer-built big block and high-revving small blocks from the late 1970s.
This 10-minute video is a worthwhile watch, as it is a compilation from the film, “Draggin’ Into The 70’s” at MusclecarFilms.com, which itself is a mash-up of awesome action from the Spring, Winter, Northern, Southern and Pro-Am Nationals between 1971 through 1975.
We love all things 1970s drag racing; the wild paint schemes, the unique hand-lettering, the in-your-face hood scoops, the droves of attendees (where did they all go?), and the mechanical cackle of those nitro-burning high-compression HEMI-headed big blocks.
While technology has obviously increased exponentially over the years, the times have decreased accordingly, and the cars have gotten sleeker and more advanced, somehow, the soul has slipped away. That’s why we think we love old school footage like this so much, and we’re sure you will too.
Enjoy!
