Here at PowerTV, we’re suckers for anything thats cool, interesting, and unique. And like you, our readers, we get a kick of watching the steps and stages to the buildup of someone’s pride and joy. Morris Lasseter of Columbia, TN is the midst of finishing up this very slick 1976 Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna S-3 that he intends to bide time as both a show and shine vehicle. The S-3 was only produced from 1974 through 1976 and a limited run of 9,100 were manufactured in 1976, making this a rare car to find or see cruising the boulevard these days.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 440 cubic inch Small Block Chevrolet that features a full slate of rotating assembly components from Pro Comp, including the engine block, crankshaft, rods, pistons, and even their 15-degree aluminum cylinder heads. The engine sports a 4-inch stroke, 6-inch rods, and some extra motivation through a two-stage nitrous oxide system. This mean little mill is finished off with a set of valve covers, oil pan, and dual billet oil filters from Canton Racing Products. Underneath is a full polished stainless steel exhaust with Dyanflow mufflers. The drivetrain features a custom Turbo 400 transmission with a Boss Hog torque converter, an aluminum driveshaft, Ford 9-inch rear end with Strange 35-spline axles and 4:11 gears.
Said Lasseter “the car will be more show than race, but we’re going to make some passes with it and see what it’ll do.” As you can clearly see, Morris has put a lot of time, effort, and of course – money – into this eye-turning ride that certainly will be no slouch when pulling away from any stoplight. “This car is so clean that you could eat off the underside of it,” said Lasseter.
