There are just certain things that certain groups of people shouldn’t be able to get their hands on, and in this case, that something is a supercharged Top Alcohol Dragster.
Like the bunch that fired off a hastily prepared Top Fuel dragster into a crowd in a story we ran last month, this group of Brazilians were clearly in a little over their heads with this stunt.
After a pair of burnouts across the floor of the stadium venue surrounded by nothing more than a chain link fence, the driver, clearly not aware that you can’t turn a 270-inch dragster on a dime and blip the throttle while you’re doing it, turns the dragster over on its side, to the applause of the crowd. To make the situation a little more interesting, the driver climbs from the cockpit wearing nothing more than a helmet, a tee shirt, and a pair of jeans. That attire might be suitable for a warmup on the jackstands, but not here.
Unfortunately, folks from foreign nations importing race cars they have no business operating for the purpose of exhibitionism seems to be far too commonplace these days, and when, rather than if, something goes seriously awry, it will be a global black eye for our sport.
