You all remember FR8TRN, right? It’s the insanely quick single-turbo Pontiac Trans Am that almost had a nasty spill at a no-prep race in Kansas back in April.
After a long year of smack-talking with ScorchTV and his twin-turbo C6 Z06 Corvette about who is faster than who, they were both finally in the same place, at the same time, and both were in full “street trim,” too. We know that FR8TRN is pushing 1000+ horsepower, but we’re not quite sure what exact power numbers ScorchTV’s Z06 is producing. This build thread we found says that the horsepower goal was 1,700, though.
The race was pretty straight forward. When the green lights flashed on the tree, both left like bats out of hell, but the Trans Am got the better launch, and ultimately the win. the Corvette put up a great fight, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to hold off the Pontiac. As we stated earlier, we’re not sure of the exact power numbers ScorchTV’s ‘Vette is putting down, but the race was close. We did spot a bit of wheelspin when the Chevy left the line, and maybe that’s what killed the run.
FR8TRN ran a 9.13 at 154 MPH in the quarter and ScorchTV ran a 9.29 at 166, which proves that FR8TRN had the upper hand off the line. The race was a good one, but if they went multiple rounds, we’re sure ScorchTV’s Z06 would get a good launch and beat FR8TRN at least a couple of times. Great racing as far as both drivers go, though. We’ll be waiting to see a rematch once the smack-talk starts up again!
