We are still in a holding pattern this morning as the wet weather edges past us here in Cecil, Georgia. We did receive word this morning that we will run the race through to the finals, we are not cancelling the race if it takes three more days to get it done. Mother nature has delayed us but will not stop the radial revolution. We will be here providing updates, news from the pits and information on various teams here this weekend.
A special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels for their support of our year-long same day race coverage.

Yes it's wet but we have spectators here wandering the pits and manufacturers midway. We will be rolling through there this afternoon to report on whats new with the vendors here this weekend.

We reported last night about Chad Opaleski haveing to send a head to Nelson Competition for repair. I stopped by this morning and they were just getting it all buttoned up.
Braxton Hopkins is here this weekend running Precision Turbo/ MacFab Beadlocks Outlaw 275. The 1999 Mustang is a father and son project running a 572 cubic inch big block Chevy with Edelbrock Nitrous making 1577 horsepower dyno tested by Pat Musi. The team is from Fall Creek Falls, Tennessee. Just started racing young at age 12 drive a 72 Chevy pick up running 9.80s in the 1/8 mile. The cage was built by Smarts Hot Rods. The crew includes James Johnson, Faith Johnson, Brown Racing and Issac Preston. Pictured is Mr Hopkins, son Braxton, mom Charity and Lenco the family dog.

Tim Mcamis Performance is sporting a new wrap on this display rig for 2013. This is the debut event for the new look.

Applied Racing Components has a new bottle bracket that incorporates a heater. The billet bracket is light weight and comes with AC, or AC/DC plugs to use 110 volt power in the pits, still keeping the ability to touch up the temp in the staging lanes when needed.

JW Performance Transmissions has developed a new product for TH 350 transmissions. This billet tail shaft housing is developed for the circle track market but is welcome for drag racing as well. It incorporates a double snap ring system and roller bearing. The outer snap ring keeps the seal in place. Also under development is a shorter TH 400 tail housing which allows racers to swap from a powerglide to a TH 400 and use the same driveshaft. With the recent pupularity of people using 2 speed TH 400 transmission this is a needed part for sure that will allow racers to test between the two and save them the hassle and money on a second drive shaft.

UPR has some new GM parts for 2013 for G bodies and F bodies. The company has been making Mustang parts for a few years now and is moving into the GM market. They will be displaying at the 2013 NMCA debut in Bradenton and Indy later this year.

I spoke with Kenny Ferrell from CFM, Carbon Fiber Manufacturing in the midway. He has been in business since 1993 making carbon pro mod bodies and experimental airplane parts. This new pro stock style scoop is just (2.2 pounds). They will have some G body parts coming for 2013. Tim and Joe Ballard have a dealership in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Jacob Garry is here with his father crewing with Outlaw 275 racer Billy "Ticket Taker" Driscoll. He was having fun in the rain on the big wheel. We are called for the day. The weather is supposed to clear out overnight and we will be racing at 9 AM. Open Comp will get one time trial. The other index classes will go right into round one eliminations. The qualified heads up cars will be laddered up with the rest of the cars still here on a random draw on the bottom of the ladder in an all run field scheduled to start at 10 AM.
