The calm before the storm here at Memphis International Raceway! Lots of killer cars here and the weather is great today.

OSCR 2017-57

Dean Marinas is here at the OSCR looking to follow up his victory at Lights Out 8 in his nitrous-huffing Mustang.

OSCR 2017-15

Barry Mitchell and his team were doing between round maintenance on his RvW Camaro this morning in preparation for round one of qualifying. Mitchell will be looking to follow up his 3.80 pass in testing.

OSCR 2017-42

Shawn Pevlor is pulling double duty this weekend driving his familiar Fox Body Mustang and this SN95 Mustang in LDR that belongs to John Kolivas that’s rocking a pair of undisclosed sized turbos. This car should be a player this weekend.

OSCR 2017-33

Marty Stinnett has been trying to work through some small issues since his crash at No Mercy last year. “We’ve been chasing some small problems but the car is coming around. It has been very consistent since the build, running in the 3.90s to 4.00s and is showing the potential to dip back in the 3.80s soon. We’re happy with where the car is after the rebuild and look forward to making some good passes this weekend,” Stinnett says.

OSCR 2017-30

Jack Green and his team rolled off the trailer with a solid 4.30 pass but then had some issues. “On our second pass the motor ate a lifter so we had to thrash on it for today. We got it back together and should be ready to go for the rest of the weekend and expect some good numbers,” Green explains.

OSCR 2017-44

Jeff Lutz is making his first passes on radials this weekend and it has been an adventure. His Mad Max Camaro has been trying to stand up on the bumper often so the team has shifted over 30 pounds on the nose of the car to help the issue.

OSCR 2017-17

Anthony Manna made some big adjustments to his program for 2017. His LSX powered Camaro from AES is sporting some new heads and a healthy cam upgrade to help it make some more power from its pair of turbos.

OSCR 2017-2

Fletcher Cox is here with his “Golddust” Mustang and Shawn Ayers is doing the driving again. Rumor in the pits is that Cox has another Radial vs The World car being built.

OSCR 2017-6

Mark Micke wasn’t able to improve on his 3.94 ET from his first qualifying effort when the car entered a massive wheelstand just past the 60 foot mark.

OSCR 2017-3

Steve Jackson is here this weekend helping Chad Henderson with his LDR Grand National. During Q1 Henderson was able to make a nice A to B pass with Jackson’s assistance.

OSCR 2017-9

Marty Robertson purchased Kyle Huettel’s Corvette and had it painted his signature shade of blue for its first trip to Memphis. His Barracuda is still being repaired, but that car will make a return to the track very soon.

OSCR 2017-14

Joe Johnson went for a wild ride during X275 qualifying that ended with some heavy contact with the wall. His car made a huge move to the left and then back to the right, and struck the wall with enough force to move it slightly. Johnson was okay and the car looks repairable.

OSCR 2017-11

Kalie Mills is working on trying to make the very tough X275 field this weekend. Her 4.90 ET during Q1 puts her in the 20th spot right now.

OSCR 2017-10

The Pro Street Motorcycle class is seeing some insane passes this weekend, with riders running deep into the 6.80s at over 220mph in the 1/4-mile without a wheelie bar.

OSCR 2017-6

The Bruder brothers are starting to get a handle on their new roots-blown combination. They were able to dip into the 4.50s during Q1 while lifting early.

OSCR 2017-2

Dewayne Mills had a scary incident during Q2 of Radial vs The World when he had a transmission line come loose inside the car and spew fluid everywhere. He was fine and the car is ready for Q3 — it just has some extra rust protection inside now.

Daniel Pharris sits on the pole in Radial vs The World behind the wheel of the Aleppa Racing C7 Vette. According to Pharris, it has been due to some hard work from the team. “We only have a handful of passes on this car since the rebuild. Everybody has worked really hard, and Andrew gave us a great car. We have been sorting out small issues and vibrations, but I think the car has a mid 4.70 in it easy.”

Justin Cyrnek put his 2013 Mustang into the number one qualifying spot with authority on Friday. His 351 cubic-inch Mod Motor pushed him to the top spot with a 4.58 et at over 159 miles per hour. This is the first time he's had the car out since 2013 and it's making some big waves in the class in it's debut this season.

Rich Bruder put the X275 world on notice during the third qualifier under the lights at Memphis International Raceway. He ripped off a booming 4.36 pass at 154 mph with a 1.059 60-foot. It appears the Bruder brothers got a handle now on this new blower and even have a bit more left in the car.

Lyle Barnett is here driving Jason Digby’s Dart in LDR and continues to make this car work. The team reset the leaf spring record AGAIN with a 4.19 lap at 184.5 mph. According to the team, the car should crack the 190 mph mark with ease and maybe run into the 4.00 range.

John Urist had been experiencing some traction issues until Q3 when he had a huge wheelstand. The car came down hard, but he was able to drive it off the track under its own power.
