Radial Revolution No Mercy III Same Day Coverage From SGMP

SELECT COVERAGE BY DAY:

Today has one more round of qualifying and the first round of eliminations tonight. The weather is a bit warm with a current track temp near 120 degrees. We are currently running X275.

Special thanks to our event coverage presenting sp0nsor, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. For all of your racing, street/strip, and daily driver tire and wheel needs, check out Mickey Thompson!

Last night there were lots of side-by-side runs as the track was coming around after the sun went down. Scotty G and Steve Jackson had their cars on kill with Jackson knocking the tires looking for a 4.2X while Scotty had his hooked up but pulled the front just a bit too high, forcing him to shut it down early.

Lenco Jim always works hard at these events. At the gate, in the pits getting work done of trackside for the T shirt toss shown here.

Sean Ashe lost a rod testing on Thursday in the ATF Mustang. Jason Gatlin and crew tore it down, took the block to a local machine shop to get a couple of the cylinders fixed up, had a new set of connecting rods delivered last night and made qualifying today. Ashe jumped right in with a 4.73. Rich Bruder ripped off a 4.669 but was bested by the BBC nitrous combo of Martin Connelley by .oo7 with a 4.662 at1 48.

Big E Racing aka "Team Lorax" out of Natchez Mississippi runs this '67 Camaro in Proformance/Capslock Oil Leaf Spring with a 588 big block force fed by twin 88mm turbos. Car owner Big E built the engine which is tuned by Quicktime Motorsports and driven by David Wilson. They had to replace the transmission and need a clean run in the final session. They got it with a 5.05 @ 157 for 9th in the field.

 FINAL QUALIFYING RESULTS

Keith Berry did make the field in the last session with a 4.71 after running a 4.58 this morning testing in 6.50 index. He is very happy to qualify in one of the toughest fields to date with a brand new car.

The Cook County High School Marching Hornets were invited out to do the national anthem. Truly a unique experience.

We had some hard rain come through ending our night early, we will start from where we left off in Outlaw Drag Radial at 9 AM tomorrow.
