Radial Revolution No Mercy III Same Day Coverage From SGMP

Today is the first day of qualifying here at No Mercy III, September to Remember at SGMP in Cecil Georgia. We have 73 X275 cars entered so far and 22 Outlaw Drag Radial cars made runs in the first round of qualifying. Today’s qualifying order will be 7.50, 6.50 then 5.70 index and Open Comp. Heads-up qualifying starts off with Ultimate Converter Concepts OL 10.5, Holley/NOS/Monte Smith Outlaw Radial, TCI/FAST X275, Proformance Transmissions/Capslock Oil Leaf Spring, Billet Atomizer Injectors/ Media 1 Ultimate Street, Precision Turbo/MacFab Beadlocks Outlaw 275 vs. 28’s, PTC Radial vs. the World and 4.70 index will wrap up each round.

Mark Woodruff swaps on some new tires this morning for his '67 Corvette running Radial vs. the World this weekend. He hails from St Louis with a Sonny Leonard 522 semi-Hemi Chevy fed by twin 94mm Precision turbos. Chassis by Rob Mathias. VP Race Fuels, Hyperactive Solutions, Racepak, Micky Thompson, Mark Micke transmissions and Pro Torque Converters are on board.

 

Enzo Pecchini made the ride from Canada with his Procharged Hemi Mustang. He also runs Radial vs. the World. Al Billes built the engine, chassis by J.R. Racecraft. They're still working bugs out of the car but had a clean hit to the 330' last night.

Joe Johnson out of Texas is running Outlaw 275 this weekend with a pair of turbos reduced to 80 MM. Hans Fuestal built the small block Chevy engine.

Brandon Fugler runs this '69 Camaro out of Mississippi. Jeff Naiser does the engines for him which is fed by an F3R-139 Procharger with cage by Billy Will in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Tom Olsen races the MDRA series and made the drive down here from Illinois. He runs his own T & T Racing Engines small block Chevy with splayed valve Brodix heads and NX nitrous. He is looking to get into the 4.70's this weekend with his new Holley fuel injection. Special thanks out to Mike Radlien and Nick Tucci.

ROUND ONE QUALIFYING RESULTS

Kevin Neal drove Jason Rueckert's Cutlass to a 4.54 at 164 during Radial vs. the World qualifying. Tim Knieriem built the conventional headed 565 BBC. The boost comes from an F3R-136 Procharger. Jason is currently 7th in Outlaw Drag Radial with a 4.65 @ 160.

 

Steve Jackson slowed just a bit from last nights 4.36 - qualifying number one with a 4.38 at 178.

 

MacFab Beadlocks is on site doing conversions and have been very busy today.

 

John Iannuzzi had a nice wheels-up launch on his way to a 4.83 at 153, good for 12th in PTC Radial vs. the World.

 

ROUND TWO QUALIFYING RESULTS

 

During 4.70 index time trials this Corvette caught fire on the starting line. t was put out fairly quickly and no one was injured.

TRZ Motorsports is a big supporter of small tire racing, and as usual, has a booth set up to display parts and help racers when they can. The rear housing shown is a fabricated nine-inch Ford destined for Sean Ashe's Procharged Mustang.

 

Attillio DeRosa has been working with TRZ Motorsports developing and fabricating some new and/or improved specialty parts. Shown here is the AAPerformance upper control arm mount cross member for Fox body Mustangs. Built from light weight chromoly, this replaces the upper control arm mounts in a stock body car and allows for a wide range of adjustment.

 

Jason Enos set low ET for 10.5 in round one qualifying with a 4.244 at 185. The top five remain unchanged after round two.
