- The trip to Englishtown has been a rather tumultuous one for Steve Petty, Eric Dillard, and the rest of the Proline team this week. While testing with a handful of other teams at Maryland International Raceway mid-week, Dillard suffered a driveline failure on his first crack at the racetrack, while Tim Lynch fared much worse, experiencing a turbocharger explosion that cause extensive fire damage to his beautiful Outlaw 10.5 Corvette. The Trans Am still features the NMCA-legal 550-inch Proline powerplant with twin 88mm turbos, with tuning assistance from Yedgarian and Steve Petty. Carinci won the OSCA Super Street title this season and set the class record at 4.31 seconds over the eighth-mile and has been 6.59 in the quarter. According to Carinci, he and his team are still sneaking up on the combination, and while down some cubic inches on the competition, believe they have the potential to compete with the field on the shorter distance.

Enos and company made six runs in testing on Wednesday and Thursday at MIR, where the stunning Shelby Mustang recorded an unofficial worls record pass of 4.11 seconds at 191 MPH. Conditions this weekend aren’t expected to be as favorab le as they were in Maryland, but it should be fast nonetheless.
- We’re under way with 8.50 Index category racing here at Raceway Park under asolutely perfect weather conditions, which is a real change of pace from previous years. - Mike Castellana gave it his all, but the Al-Anabi couldn’t retain the #1 qualifying spit in Nitrous Pro Mod after Fredy Scriba Jr. shocked everyone with a unbelieavably smooth 5.83 to lay claim to one of the quickest nitrous doorslammer passes of all time.
- Nitrous Pro Mod
- Needless to say, Steve King and Jeff Miller were ecstatic about their first five-second run, a 5.92, recorded during the second session of Blown Pro Mod, that placed them atop the field going into eliminations. According to Miller, the team put all the parts in the Camaro following the unfortunate crash of their ’57 Chevrolet a couple months ago. The team tested a torque converter setup but couldn’t get a handle on the new combination and swapped out everything behind the firewall with with the tried-and-true clutch combo to make it to Shakedown. “We went out there in the first session yesterday and it left good and I thought, ‘man, it’s really going,’ and then it comes up 6.09. - TJ Kasper sawd the tree down and stole one on a holeshot in the first round of Outlaw 10.5, edging John Cheman’s 4.367 with a 4.393, compliments of a perfect .000 reaction time to Cheman’s .078.

- What a turn of events Drag Radial has become. In their semifinal matchup, Steve Jackson lit the red bulb, and adding insult to injury, Scotty Guadagno’s machine broke the wishbone in the four-link, sending small parts scattering across the racetrack.
