We are getting started this morning with bracket qualifying and have some great weather this weekend with some warmer temps today.

Roger Holder brought his new Chevy II out this weekend for some testing and is entered in Radial vs the World with his twin turbo Camaro. He has had the Nova about three years and it’s fitted with the nitrous engine from the Camaro. Plans include some True Ten Five and grudge racing with the car.

Mod Squad Racing out of Canada runs this little Chevy powered 74 Corolla. We spoke with David Knoph about the car which is driven by his son Devon. They have a new engine just put in the car last week, moving from a 354 cubic inch NASCAR style build to a 434 topped with a Brodix aluminum block heads and three nitrous stages. The cold track temps last night left a lot of cars struggling with the surface and Knoph was no exception, qualifying with a 6.21 at 95 MPH after getting out of shape early.

Kevin Guthrie based out of Colorado and running 10.5 this weekend. The car is powered by a Procharged LS engine from S and R Racing Engines making about 3,200 horsepower and backed by a JEFFco clutch-less transmission. He ran a 4.72 at 158 MPH in yesterdays qualifying.

In Outlaw 10.5 qualifying last night this 41 Willy’s had a wild ride on the top end, spinning around and just brushing the wall in a display of great driving and a bit of luck the only damage was a scrape on the rear fender.

Precision Turbo Pro Mod had many racers struggle with the surface including Troy Coughlin in the Jeg’s 2015 Corvette who was half the first pair out in class last night with the track temp in the mid 50’s. The track did tighten up later in the session.

Rob Moore runs this 1960 Frankinpalla in Pro Mod with Minor Brothers horsepower based out of El Cajon, California. He sits third in class with a 6.15 at 240.

Dragzine’s own James Lawrence earned top qualifier in Magnafuel XDR last night with a 4.53 at 154 MPH. Bill Trovato is assisting the crew with tuning the car this weekend.
