Mickey Thompson Monday Morning Race Report
ADRL: Complete same day coverage on DRAGZINE. Josh Hernandez returned to victory just two races removed from securing new financial backing with a wild final round defeat of Alex Hossler that saw Hossler tag the wall. Gary White continued his torrid pace over his V8 counterparts, winning with a string of 3-second passes. NHRA: Larry Dixon further increased his points lead in Top Fuel with his win in Englishtown, topping a tire-smoking Antron Brown. Bob Tasca III was belatedly named the Funny Car champion after a timing malfunction initially gave the win to opponent Del Worsham. Mike Edwards, Michael Phillips, and Von smith also grabbed wins at the Old Bridge facility. NHRA Unleashed: The new NHRA Unleashed series kicked off its inaugural event this weekend at the Atlanta Dragway in hot and humid Commerce, GA. The venerable Tim Lynch powered his way to the Outlaw 10.5 winners circle in just the second outing for brand new Corvette ZR1, Keith Szabo topped Eric Dillard in a close Limited Street final, and Jimmy Martin took an easy win in Easy Street over a tire-smoking Wes Whittle. NHRA Division 3: The NHRA’s Divison 3 competitors competed at Route 66 Raceway for the second consecutive weekend. Jim Whitely grabbed the Top Alcohol Dragster title in an all-supercharged final with Marty Thacker, and Steve Harker took home the winners check after a close bout with Andy Bohl in Top Alcohol Funny Car. NHRA Division 7: The Pacific Division 7 competitors concluded an action-packed weekend of racing at Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, NV that saw Mike Austin single for the Top Alcohol Dragster trophy, and Doug Gordon defeat an off-the-pace John Lombado Jr. for the Funny Car crown.
