Borla is here this weekend showcasing their stainless exhaust as well as a new line of induction systems available for several engine types. Tracie Percell got me up to speed on the new line. Borla Performance Industries purchased TWM Induction about two and a half years ago and moved that into the Borla facility in Johnson City, Tennessee. The systems are available in cast or billet with several styles available, shown is a cross ram for a 351 Winsdor.

Jason Brock is debuting this 2003 Mustang in Extreme Street built by Wizard Race Cars. It started at a supercharged 4.6 before the transformation o a 520 BBC on nitrous from Chris at C&S Performance. The Red Baron Racing team is based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ignition is a MSD Powergrid, Paul from Induction Solutions will be here this weekend to help things get sorted out on the new combo. Pictured is Jason and his son, Darren Thomas Brock

Phil Corndog Smith from Team Midnight has his new car out this weekend for the 2012 season in Xtreme Street. Built by Darren Breaud at B&B Race Cars with a fresh 520 ci BBC from Nelson Competition. This car has not made a pass yet but Phil held the MPH class record last year, and hopes to grab it, and the ET record here this weekend. Major sponsors include Billet Specialties, Strange Engineering and Mickey Thompson and of course Hinsdale Farms.

Brian Hicks runs a Hemi Challenger in Super Street 10.5 using mostly older Top Fuel parts from AJE. Engines are built in house with the car built at Bickel Race Cars and trans by Fastest Transmissions with a Neal Chance converter. He hit the Bradenton season opener and had a good weekend but had the car set up a bit soft testing out some new valve train parts with good results so expect Brian to be a bit quicker here this weekend.

Round One Qualifying Results

Chris Rini pulled a 6.03 @ 235 to earn top qualifier in Kooks Custom Headers Pro Street with his ATI sponsored 69 Camaro, he is coming off a win in Bradenton over Bill Lutz.

Bill Lutz had his oil tank fail on the starting line dumping oil on the track and tires. He did a fantastic job of keeping the car off the wall and got it stopped and off to the side as soon as he could. They hope to make repairs for the second session.

Eric LaFerriere sits in second behind Mike Murillo in Mickey Thompson Super Street/Pro Outlaw, another combined class this weekend. His 6.547 was just off Murillo's pass but nearly three tenths ahead of number three man Brian Hicks.

ARP Nostalgia Pro Street has seven cars in class today with Kevin Parent leading off with a 7.28 @190, which is identical speed with Jeff Coletta. Parent runs the two tone 69 Nova based out of Rochester Hills, Michigan with Dart Machinery as a major sponsor for the team. Colletta runs the number 2 on his windshield after a runner up finish for the 2011 season.

Bob Kurgan made a very nice 7.76 @ 175 for his Aeromotive Xtreme Street qualifier this afternoon sporting the new Vortech XB105 supercharger and is always a threat. Shemwell managed a 7.94 @ 175 and hopefully can pick up his front half performance and better his ET tonight.

2011 season runner up Gary Duncan had no luck with traction on the tricky track this afternoon. The Olive Branch, Mississippi racer runs an 85 Camaro with a Kuntz built small block Chevy displacing 353 cubic inches.

Round Two Pit Notes

Jeff Lutz has his new car here for it's race debut as well. A brand new car out of the Jerry Bickel shop featuring a true double frame rail design. The engine is 540 BBC from Pat Musi fed by twin GT55/88 Precision turbos. sponsors on the car include Big Stuff 3, Precision Turbo, PTP Racing, Mickey Thompson and Stainless Works. Paint is by Jeff Thompson Auto Body.

the car has already pulled some impressive number with a .995 60', 2.70 330' and a 4.14 to the 1/8h clicking it early this week while testing at Rockingham.

Kevin Mitchel had some engine troubles this morning with a rocker arm popping off the pushrod on both their runs. They are taking the car to Proline Race Engines to make repairs and should be back and ready for Saturday's morning session. The car was built in house by Mitchell Performance with EFI and Chassis tuning handled by Southern Speed in Tupelo, Mississippi where Brian works.

Ray Sanchez is back this year after a four year absence from NMCA competition. he runs a 510 BBC from John Stefko out of Toronto.

Willard Kinzer had a scary ride after losing the pinion near the top end causing quite a bi of damage to the car. The PTP crew hopes to make repairs and give it another shot tomorrow.

When the pinion gave out it took the driveshaft out as well as the back of the transmission, gladly the bolt on shield kept the debris from ripping through the floor. The engine did see some high RPM so that will be checked along with making all the other repairs.
