The Chris Duncan Pro Mod Super Series was set for exciting final round with Dan Stevenson fresh off of a 3.97 second run and “Fast” Eddie Rogers posting a 4.01 in the semi-final round.  It was all for naught though as rains would move into the area shortly after washing out the event.

Nitrous Pro Mods showed their hand for the first time in the Chris Duncan Pro Mod Super Series at Cordova Dragway Park this past Friday and Saturday.  Leading the nitrous contingent was Stevenson and tuned by Pro Modified legend, Charles Carpenter.  Also taking the call to arms for the nitrous racers were Aaron Hodges and Matt Braun.

In qualifying it was still Rogers leading the way in his Chris Duncan Race Cars built 2006 Corvette with a 3.98 second elapsed time.  Behind Rogers was Stevenson with a 3.99 second effort.  Another new comer to the series, Neal Wantye would go to the third spot with a 4.04 second pass at 187 mph in the third session.  Monte Grace would qualify fourth with a 4.14 second lap on the Friday night session; however, his motor would expire and lead to a long night to get ready for Saturday.  Scott Christoffel would get into the field on his only shot in the fourth session with a 4.21 second run. Dan Devore, who was unable to make the final round with minor issues, would get bumped out of the field by just eight-thousandths of a second.

Grace’s bad luck would continue in first round when an ignition problem would lead to a issue that would keep the motor from firing.  Aaron Hodges would get the free shot at the track to the second round and would tire shake and lift.  Wantye would line up against Minnesota resident Matt Braun.  Wantye would turn on the red light and Braun would run into issues down track and lift to a 4.50.  Rogers would get around Cathy Belcher in the first round as a faulty trans-brake solenoid would barely allow him to put get the car into gear.  Rogers would foot brake the supercharged Corvette to a 4.01.

The semi-final round saw all three nitrous cars advance against the defending series champ, Rogers.  Stevenson lined up against Braun and when the tree fell Stevenson was out quick and made a picture perfect run that would be the quickest of the weekend, a 3.97.  Rogers and Hodges would come to the line next in semi-final action.  Hodges would again struggle with tire shake while Rogers would make his fourth consistent pass of the weekend, a 4.01.  With the fans buzzing about the previous round, everyone was excited for the finals, however, the weather intervened.  Just 20 minutes after the semi-finals a down pour fell on CDP and it was soon evident it would be enough to wash out the event. The officials made the tough decision to call the event.

The next event on the Chris Duncan Pro Mod Series schedule is the Cedar Falls Raceway Night of Fire held July 20th and 21st.
