PRI 2010: Quick Fuel Technology’s NHRA-Approved SSR Race Carbs

The NHRA is a stickler for the rules, but with good reason. Racers have a habit of finding (and thoroughly exploiting) any and every loophole possible. Thus, getting new parts approved for use in racing classes like Stock and Super Stock is not exactly easy.

Quick Fuel Technology, however, has just received approval from the NHRA for their latest line of SSR-Series carburetors approved for use in Stock, Super Stock, and even Competition Eliminator classes.

These purpose-built class racing carburetors had to adhere to the NHRA standards, which use the old style of carburetors found on showroom cars back from the 1960’s. This means there are limitations on the size of primary and secondary venture and the throttle bore. Ranging in size from 585 and 650cfm all the way up to 850cfm, these carburetors can be had with a vacuum or mechanical secondary (depending on class rules).

While this may be limited to the dimensions of old-school carburetors, that doesn’t mean the SSR carbs haven’t been updated for the 21st century. They are lightweight, easy to modify, making them perfect for the modern day racer limited to ‘60’s technology. Made from cast aluminum, they are excellent replacements for hard-to-find OEM and Holley stock carburetors.

  • NHRA-approved carburetors for Stock, Super Stock, and Competition Eliminator classes
  • Range in size from 585cfm up to 850cfm
  • Lightweight and easy to tune
