While debuting the internet sensation ‘Crowmod’ on drag radials at Lights Out 7 earlier this year, Justin ‘Big Chief’ Shearer was all while gathering ideas on what needed to be done to put his new workhorse back on big tires and on the streets, where it’s destined to end up. After pulling the radials off following a pair of outings in Radial vs The World competition and some private testing on the big meats, Shearer loaded the sleek Pontiac Firebird into the trailer and made the trek to the world famous Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas for the inaugural American Outlaws Live event. As the Midwest Street Cars team got all setup and ready to roll for testing, Chief warmed up the Butler Performance twin turbocharged Pontiac engine under the hood of the Crowmod and made his final changes behind the laptop for the FuelTech FT500 engine management system and more.
After a nice, smooth planned mid-track shutoff pass, Shearer and company took their time and made sure the engine was happy, making necessary changes where it was needed on the car, all while spending time with thousands of their fans that lined the pits of the Texas Motorplex.
Rolling under the tower for one of the last passes of the night, Shearer uncorked the Crowmod for it’s first full pull of the weekend at American Outlaws Live and sent the crowd into a frenzy with what appeared to be a fairly solid run for the Oklahoma City-based team. As you can see from the testing videos provided to us by 1320Video, Big Chief and Team Midwest Street Cars came to Texas with a loaded gun ready to do battle.
With $75,000 in cold hard cash on the line in the competitive Big Tire category, Shearer was among the favorites, but ultimately bowed out in the quarterfinals to his friend and fellow Street Outlaws star Jeff Lutz and his street legal ‘Mad Max’ Camaro. The Discovery Channel was on hand filming what’s said to be a special episode of Street Outlaws that will air in the future, giving you a chance to see all of this action right at home.
