Video: Awesome Opposite-Lane Perspective of Sky High Wheelstand!

Every gearhead loves a cool wheelstand video. We’ve seen them from all angles: from the stands, from behind the car, from in front of the car, and from cameras mounted on and in the car itself, but one of the rarer perspectives — and definitely one of the coolest — is when the car in the opposing lane has a GoPro trained on the wheels-up action across the centerline. This video provides a very cool, close-up view from just that angle, and it is AWESOME!

Screen Shot 2014-09-02 at 12.06.12 PMThe video was taken at this weekend’s Yellow Bullet Nationals at Cecil County Raceway in Rising Sun, Maryland, and was posted on the forum by Kris Mustacchio, who goes by the username paxtonpwr on The Bullet. It shows his perspective from the right lane as viewed from the 1984 Mustang that he and his best friend, Nick Edelman campaign in X275. In the other lane, the star of our show: Craig Walls and his supercharged small-block Ford powered Mustang. After the cars stage and take the green light, we see the green machine of Walls power into a small wheelstand. He checks the throttle and returns the car to all four wheels, then immediately drives into a MASSIVE wheelstand as the pair near the 330-foot cone. Realizing he can’t (safely) stay in the throttle, Craig is forced to lift and return his ‘Stang to earth in a shower of sparks and oil.

The car did sustain some significant damage by way of a split oil pan, a bent steering rack, damaged dry sump oil system and fuel pump, as well as cracking the freshly-painted front bumper. However, Walls and crew thrashed overnight and had the car ready to compete the following day. That fact shows the dedication seen weekend after weekend at dragstrips all across the nation by die-hard racers who do whatever it takes to keep their Hot Rods on the track and running!
