ETS Ready To Take Back The Nissan GTR Record At TX2K18

Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) builds some of the most powerful boosted imports in the world that lay down magical times at the track. While ETS makes parts for a wide range of cars, they hang their hat in the Nissan GTR world where they once held the record for the quickest and fastest machine. For 2018, ETS has their sights set on reclaiming their record at the streetcar super bowl known as TX2K18.

The buzz around TX2K17 was all about who would be the first to break into the six-second zone with a GTR. There were several contenders, with ETS being one of them — but ultimately Gidi Chamdi claimed the record driving the AMS Alpha G Nissan.

Missing the record was difficult for ETS, according to Michael Roark, when they were giving it their all to be the first.

“Unfortunately, we had a few tuning issues to work through before we could run a six-second pass. The last run of the day the car was on track for a six-second pass, but it didn’t shift into fifth gear. Since the issue on that pass has been fixed, we have run multiple six-second times at different events.”

Eventually, the team was able to set the GTR record with an insane 6.88 at 222mph in late 2017. Recently, that record was broken by Alpha Logic Performance with a 6.85 pass at only 212 mph. Having the record taken away has only motivated ETS even more and they’re ready for TX2K18.

“The plan is to better our quarter-mile time bests in elapsed time and speed in front of our customers and bring the GTR record back to ETS,” Roark says.

Being able to set the GTR record at any event is a challenge, but for ETS there’s added importance to do it at TX2K18 because of how many of their customers are in attendance.

“It’s important for us to have the world record because it proves to our customers that our products are the best of the best. We like TX2K because it gives us a chance to meet our customers and vendors face to face.  Peter’s event is well organized and the track has been prepped extremely well since the Miller Brothers partnership, so the racing is even better,” Roark explains.

The ETS GTR is still a stock chassis car with factory glass and weighs in at over 3,600 pounds. A custom ETS roll cage was built in-house to work with their custom suspension package they have developed.  Powering the car to its multiple six-second passes is an ETS engine that uses a Willall Racing billet block, ETS billet crank, aluminum rods, and Mahle pistons. ETS also CNC-ported the heads and used Ferrea Racing Components valvetrain parts to tie it all together. This combination is capable of making well over 3,000 horsepower to the tires when you add in the custom ETS turbo kit and Precision Turbo & Engine PT8385 turbos.

The ETS team is looking forward to putting on a show and laying waste to the current GTR record on the highly-prepped Royal Purple Raceway surface.
