The ProCharger C8 Is A Full Weight World Record Setting Daily Driver

As automotive performance enthusiasts, we love seeing people willing to push the boundaries to explore what is possible with an automobile. Currently, the platform that is getting all the attention is the mid-engine C8 Corvette. Among the LS/LT community, pushing a stock internal engine to mind-boggling performance levels is commonplace, and the team at ProCharger has produced results with its C8 test mule that are inspiring to say the least. The fact that these results came about purely because the people at ProCharger are enthusiasts themselves and wanted to see how far they could go with a basically stock C8 makes this achievement even better.

Now before everyone loses their minds about which LS/LT world records count and which don’t, let’s expand on what this ProCharger C8 Corvette is exactly. When the eighth generation of the Corvette was released in 2020, ProCharger picked up this red example as soon as it hit the dealership. This car has been a test bed for developing ProCharger’s C8 supercharger systems from day one. It has spent its life serving double duty as a workhorse and daily driver. This particular car has been used for dealer visits, road course and drag strip testing, and was even put on display at SEMA to show off ProCharger’s bolt-on supercharger system.

Now, world record holder can be added to the list of accomplishments for the ProCharger C8. As of this writing, the ProCharger team holds the title of the world’s quickest and fastest supercharged C8 Corvette in the quarter mile. The impressive thing to note is that this C8 is a full interior, full-weight street car that surprisingly sits at 3,938 lbs. with a full tank of 93 octane pump gas.

ProCharger C8

Sitting on the scales, you can see this C8 is no lightweight at over 3,900 lbs. with a full tank of fuel.

Additionally, the only changes made to the engine are the bolt-on ProCharger Stage II supercharger system that includes a P1-X head unit and the ProCharger LT2 intake manifold. The cylinder heads and bottom-end components are stock. The Dual-Clutch Transmission (DTC) and the clutch are also just as they were when they rolled off the assembly line. Best of all, ProCharger’s factory ECU calibration means there are no piggyback electronics for the supercharger system to function.

In the interest of transparency, ProCharger discloses the upgrades made to its C8 that make this level of performance possible. As can be seen in the images and video, the C8 wears Weld Racing Wheels front and rear wrapped in Mickey Thompson tires. Behind the rear beadlock wheels are a set of GForce axles for those hard launches on the drag strip. In addition, a ProMeth methanol pump and nozzles are controlled by an AEM unit to help make 881 wheel horsepower with pump gas on 14 psi of boost from the P1-X (with a pully change).

ProCharger C8

This daily driven beast makes almost 900 horsepower at the wheels on pump 92-octane fuel.

While the LT2, factory DCT, and clutch are all very impressive on their own, ProCharger points out that the clutch protection built into its ECU calibration has performed exceptionally well. However, once output levels eclipsed the 750-wheel horsepower mark, ProCharger installed a Dodson pressure controller for the factory clutch. This is due to the TCU not allowing modification of clutch pressures currently.

That’s it for modifications. The results are almost 900 horsepower on pump gas and a 10.1-second quarter mile time at 139 mph.   All from a Corvette with a stock bottom-end LT2 with the factory DCT and clutch. How would you like to fill up your C8 at the local gas station, drive it to the track, run 10.1 seconds, and drive it home with the A/C blowing and radio playing? With this level of performance and the ability to be daily driven, the ProCharger supercharged C8 will be driven many more miles. If you want to turn your C8 into a street-driven monster contact ProCharger.
